Liparit Drmeyan, the Head of the Office of the Representative on International Legal Matters, met with Osvaldo Zavala Giler, the Registrar of the International Criminal Court (ICC). They discussed the steps taken to implement the Rome Statute of the ICC following its ratification. Drmeyan and Zavala emphasized the importance of the ICC providing expert opinions on necessary legislative changes. They also highlighted the need for active collaboration with the ICC to enhance the capacities of domestic law enforcement agencies, particularly in handling the investigation of specific crimes.
The two sides also addressed the need to expand the ICC’s jurisdiction to include the crime of aggression. Additionally, they reviewed several recent developments surrounding the ICC. Both parties expressed their commitment to continuing cooperation on matters of mutual interest.
