On August 29-30 a workshop on Article 6 of the Convention and Article 1 of Protocol 1 to the Convention was held in Tsakhkadzor.
The goal of the workshop was to improve the skills of the participants regarding the peculiarities of application of Article 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights and Article 1 of the Protocol 1 to the Convention. The conference was attended by Arman Tatoyan, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, Deputy Representative of the Government of the Republic of Armenia at the European Court of Human Rights. The scope of the right to property ensured by the Convention, practical issues relating to the right to a fair trial, execution of the final judicial act and to reopening of the proceedings were discussed, the issue of national legislation’s compatibility with the European Court’s standards was observed. During the workshop the questions to be asked when considering the existence of violation were analyzed and relevant case-law of the Court was studied.
The main speakers of the conference were Holger HEMBACH, Council of Europe international consultant, Timothée PARIS, Council of Europe international consultant.
Representatives of the Department for the relations with the European Court of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, representatives from the Chamber of Advocates of the Republic of Armenia, Justice Academy of the Republic of Armenia, Judicial Department of the Republic of Armenia, Constitutional Court of the Republic of Armenia participated in the workshop.
The workshop was organised within the framework of the Council of Europe project “Strengthening the application of the European Convention on Human Rights and the case law of the European Court of Human Rights in Armenia” with the assistance of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan.
