On 23 January, after almost a year of preparatory works, Representative of the Republic of Armenia on International Legal Matters Yeghishe Kirakosyan submitted the complete Memorial and evidence of Armenia against Azerbaijan to the International Court of Justice on behalf of the Republic of Armenia within the framework of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.
These submissions generally refer to the decades-long violations by Azerbaijan of the Convention through systematic hatred and discriminatory treatment of ethnic Armenians and Armenianness, and reparations for the damage caused.
As reported earlier, on 16 September 2021 Armenia had filed its Application against Azerbaijan on the grounds of violation of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination. The court set a deadline of 23 January 2023 for the submission of the complete Memorial and evidence.
